A Point Djeggnog Missed...
by Cameron_Don ina while back djeggnog said to me.... "evidently you want the readers of your book to believe what jehovah's witnesses believe[d] (down till 1919) to be a matter of embracing the beliefs of these dead men (russell and rutherford).
but jehovah's witnesses embrace[d] the teachings of jesus christ, our living lord.".
"captives of a concept" presents 48 examples where jehovah's witnesses (bible students) did in fact embrace the beliefs of the now dead men russell and rutherford.

He's heavily blinkered (at the very least) if not totally delusionally Watchtarded. If you've ever read any of his rambling posts on here you'll soon realise he falls outside of the spectrum we commonly know of as "normal".
He will never GET the point (any point) until he can for just once be HONEST with himself. I have yet to see any evidence whatsoever that he is capable of this transition.

Doug, I'd address the WT presentation of the material. Red herrings, misquotes, context, etc rather than doing an inevitably lengthy proving that 587 is correct.
Short sweet and pointed only. The target audience are JWs who will find the WTS article itself too long and merely skim read it nodding approvingly. Anything equally or more complex will be dismissed outright by the vast majority.
Personally I'd just do screen captures of the relevant parts of the WT article and just add a caption or small paragraph over it or next to it instead of converting the nice colourful WT (yes they KNOW how to make it readable) article into plain boring text (not you, but in the JW mindset).
The WTs MAIN points are in the illustrations and charts, USE THEM, but say what they really show or else are trying to hide.

Good news for modern OBVEServers
by unclebruce inhey obves,.

.. yep works every time .. break an equation down far enough and out pops old iir2.

587 B.C.E vs 607 B.C.E
by fade_away inthe latest oct. watchtower has an article that seems to be controversial amongst us "apostates.
" it's a long complicated article with tons of confusing names and dates, but in the end it sums it up and says:.
"to sum up: the bible clearly states that there was an exile of 70 years.

Actually, since my last post on this thread, I think I may have rumbled a fader. I've sent them a PM. I really hope it is who I suspect as I had quite a bit of respect for this person when I was 'in' as he was/is genuinely nice (as opposed to the nicey-nicey, fake-ass JWs who couldn't really give a monkey's).
*Crosses fingers and waits for a PM*....
Thankyou. And thanks for the PMs...
